Grading for one of Henry's classes
Here are Henry's tips for serving as a homework grader for one of my classes!
- Homeworks are due in class on Fridays, and I will put them in my mailbox for you to pick up after class is finished.
- Use a red pen. On occasion I will also add comments to the homeworks, and if you use a consistent color (and I use a different one), then it allows the students to recognize which comments are yours and which are mine.
- Unless stated otherwise, my homeworks are always 20 points, with 5 points per problem if there are 4 problems, and 4 points per problem if there are 5 problems.
- Put the number of points received next to each question, and the total number of points received at the top.
- I will typically email you a PDF of the homework solutions.
- Email me if you have any questions about how to grade a problem, or simply leave it ungraded for me to grade!
- Please return the homeworks to me in alphabetical order by last name.
- If you feel like you are writing a particular comment many times, then that is a good comment to email to me and I can give that feedback to the entire class via an email!
- I like to return homeworks two class periods after they are due, which means you should (typically) put them back in my mailbox on Tuesday of the following week for me to return on Wednesday, and email me once you've put them in my mailbox!
- Full 5 points: looks 100% correct, upon first glance at the one or two main steps.
- -1 point: Minor error.
- -2 points: Minor error, more likely to have been a minor conceptual error.
- -3 points: Major errors. The approach may have been doomed form the start!
- -4 points: Not much effort.
- -5 points: Blank answer.
