Industrial Mathematics
The Pattern Analysis Lab invites interactions and collaborations with partners in industry and National Labs. Industrial problems are often the most challenging and require new techniques (and new mathematics) that do not scale from techniques suitable for "toy" problems.
The collaborations to date include:
- Physical Sciences INC, -- compression algorithms (current)
- IBM -- improved printing algorithms
- Los Alamos National Lab -- data reduction algorithms
- National Forest Service -- scale dependent spatial data analysis
- SIEMENS -- novelty detection
- Honeywell, INC, -- failure prediction and fault detection
