HRT is true for real functions and four points

The HRT conjecture asserts that every Gabor system in \(L^2(\mathbb{R})\) is linearly independent. In this talk, we prove HRT for every four-point Gabor system generated by a real-valued function. This is a corollary of something stronger: HRT holds for time-frequency shifts in symmetric five-point configurations with any generating function. Joint work with Kasso Okoudjou.
