These dates are published in the Schedule of Classes and you are expected to attend these exams.  The only excused absences are official university approved absences. If you have an unavoidable conflict, you must submit a written e-mail explanation of your conflict to me at least two weeks prior to the exam. Examinations will not be rescheduled because of travel arrangements. It is your responsibility to schedule travel appropriately. Calculators may not be used on the exams.

Homework: Homework is the most important part of this class. Completing regular homework assignments is crucial for doing well in this class. The process of doing homework problems will help you learn the material and be ready to solve problems on the tests. It is important to keep up with new course material.

Homework notebooks are due four times during the semester: Sept 16, Oct 14, Nov 11, Dec 5. To receive full credit, the homework notebook must be well organized and clearly numbered and homework problems must be legible, spaciously written, and show all work. Homework assignments

Honors problems: Honors problems are due separately every Friday.

Quizzes: There will be 11 quizzes during the semester, on every Wednesday except during midterm weeks. There are no make-up quizzes. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped. The quiz problem will be essentially identical to a homework problem from that week.

Grading: The course grades will be computed as follows. Midterm 1 (100 points); Midterm 2 (100 points); Midterm 3 (100 points); Final (200 points); Quizzes (100 points); Homework (100 points). The homework grade is broken down as follows: 4 homework notebooks each worth 5 points; 4 practice exams each worth 5 points; honors problems worth 60 points.
