Instructors for Authors
Submission of Papers
Manuscripts should be sent in one copy to the editor in chief. Submission of a paper will be taken
to imply that it represents final work for a class, a research group or free study who might not
necessarily be original but that has not been previously published and is not being considered in
another class for a grade. If accepted for publication it could be published elsewhere in the same
form; in such a case, please notitify the Editor. The master copy and original drawings will be
returned to the authors in case their paper is not accepted for publication.
Refereeing Submitted papers will be
anonymously refereed by other students, preferably in the same research group and, if necessary,
authors may be invited to revise their manuscript. If a submitted paper relies heavily on published
or published material, it would be helpful to have a copy of that material for the use of the
referee. See Notice to referees.
Manuscript
Preparation
All manuscripts should be written in good English. The paper copies of the text should be prepared
with single line spacing in the Latex Style (article; it is a good idea to begin
with this
Latex file with the Horsetooth style) or in Ms-Word. Submission could be
done electronically.
Structure. Please adhere to the following order of presentation: Article title, Author(s),
Affiliation(s), Course Number and instructor's name, Abstract, PACS codes and keywords, Main text,
Acknowledgements, Appendices, References, Figure captions, Tables.
Corresponding author. The name, complete postal address, telephone and fax numbers and the e-mail
address of the corresponding author should be given on the first page of the manuscript.
PACS codes/keywords. Please supply up to four relevant PACS-1995 classification codes and
approximately four keywords of your own choice for indexing purposes.
References. References to other work should be consecutively numbered in the text using square
brackets and listed by number in the Reference list. Please refer to the more detailed instructions
for examples.
Illustrations
Illustrations should also be submitted on paper and in a postscript file. The line drawings in the
master set should be original laser printer or plotter output or drawn in black india ink, with
careful lettering, large enough (3-5 mm) to remain legible after reduction for printing. The
photographs should be originals, with somewhat more contrast than is required in the printed
version. They should be unmounted unless part of a composite figure. Any scale markers should be
inserted on the photograph, not drawn below it.
Colour plates. Colour figures are heavily encouraged. For each issue, the nicest colour plate will
be chosen for the front cover.
Animation. Animations are also welcome they should be sent either as jpeg, animated gif or quick
time movies.
After
acceptance Notification. You will be notified by the Editor of the
journal of the acceptance of your article and invited to supply an electronic version of the
accepted text, if this is not already available.
Copyright transfer. You will not be asked to transfer the copyright of the article to the
Publisher. The article is not considered to be an actual publication in the sense understood by
other journals and will therefore be refereed to as REPORT. The articles can be submitted to other
journals with the knowledge of the Editor.
Electronic
manuscripts
The Publisher welcomes the receipt of an electronic version of your accepted manuscript (encoded in
LaTeX). If you have not already supplied the final, revised version of your article to the Journal
Editor, you are requested herewith to send a file with the text of the accepted manuscript directly
to the Publisher by e-mail to the address given below. Please note that no deviations from the
version accepted by the Editor of the journal are permissible without the prior and explicit
approval by the Editor. Such changes should be clearly indicated on an accompanying printout of the
file. The Article LaTeX package should be used.
