Instant LaTeX: How to create beautiful LaTeX documents quickly and
easily
I will begin with a brief history of TeX and LaTeX, why they were
developed, and how they are useful, particularly for producing typeset
mathematics. After a few remarks about why WYSIWYG is not a good way to
develop manuscripts, I will show some examples of styles and why you
should leave formatting to the experts. I will then talk about markup
languages and how you can use a front end to produce useful LaTeX
documents, and how you can use those documents to become a TeXnition, if
not a TeXspert. Finally, I will show how to take a .tex file and create
typeset output by using freeware such as MikTeX or TeX in a UNIX
environment.
