Guys,

Just a few things. First off, the first midterm will be a week from Monday (02/07/05, 7-8:30) and will cover sections 9.4-10.4, excluding those sections from which there were no core problems. That being the case, recitation this coming week would be an excellent time to clear up any confusion you have prior to the exam. Dr. Stoval is also planning to hold a review session on Thursday during recitation, so be sure to be thinking about questions to ask him. Also, I am planning to have an extra office hour or two this week, as well as a review session. Let me know if there are any particular times you want those to be; as of right now, I'm thinking about having an extra office hour on Monday after recitations (11:00-12:00) and possibly sometime on Friday. As for the review session, I was thinking about sometime over the weekend (say, Sunday evening), but any suggestions you have would be appreciated. The midterm will be a mix of multiple choice and free response, possibly with some true/false.

Second, missed quizzes cannot be made up. However, the lowest quiz grade will be dropped, so as long as you only miss one, it shouldn't negatively impact your grade too much. Also, the two lowest homework scores are dropped, so there's some leeway in that regard as well.

Third, if you didn't already know, the grade breakdown will be as follows: 25% for the final, 20% for each of the three midterms, and 15% for quizzes/homework.

Fourth, the other two midterms will be on the following days: Midterm 2: 03/16/05, Midterm 3: 04/06/05, also from 7-8:30, so plan accordingly.

As always, let me know if you have any questions,

Clay
