Department of Mathematics - College of Natural Sciences Colorado State University

The Department of Mathematics welcomes two postdoctoral hires at Colorado State University.

Dr. Pooria Pakrooh is a postdoctoral fellow with Professors Margaret Cheney and Louis Scharf, Mathematics, and Professor Mahmood Azimi, ECE (Electrical and Computer Science). His research is related to Statistical Signal Processing. As a postdoctoral fellow he will be working on problems in radar and sonar, involving the inversion of complex images for the scattering fields that produced them. He will also collaborate with personal in NAVY and MATRIX, Inc. as well as academic colleagues at Arizona State University and the University of Melbourne. Dr. Pakrooh is a summer 2015 graduate from Colorado State University in the ECE department.

Dr. Julien Chaput arrived at Colorado State on October 14, 2015, to begin his postdoctoral fellow experience with Professors Margaret Cheney and Olivier Pinaud, mathematics and Professor Rick Aster, Geosciences. While on campus he will collaborate with this team of professors on research in Mathematical Methods in seismology to develop and implement algorithms for analyzing complex images received from teleseismic recordings and reconstructing the backscattering fields that generate them. In 2012, Dr. Chaput graduated with his Ph.D. in Seismology from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, in Sorcorro, NM. Recently, he has been a Postdoctoral Fellow at UJF-Grenoble (Université Joseph Fourier), located at the heart of the Alps.
