Dr. Mary E. Pilgrim joins the Department of Mathematics

Dr. Mary E. Pilgrim joined the Department of Mathematics this fall semester as the department's Calculus Facilitator. Dr. Pilgrim received her PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Mathematics from Colorado State University; she also holds a Master's degree in Mathematics. Her advisors were Prof. Paul Kennedy from the Mathematics Department and Prof. Gene Gloeckner from the Education Department. Dr. Pilgrim was a Visiting Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Oregon State University during the 2011-2012 academic year. Prior to that she was a CLT West fellow at Colorado State University. Dr. Pilgrim's research interests include issues with student success in undergraduate Calculus, implementing problem-based learning and other pedagogies with pre-service Mathematics teachers, and Mathematics instruction to blind students. Currently, she is on the committee working with TILT on the Calculus sequence redesign project as well as collaborating with Dan Reinholz from the University of California, Berkeley on his PhD project.

Dr. Pilgrim's husband, Michael Jebb, has a Master's degree in Computer Science and currently does iPhone and iPad application development for companies in Portland, OR and Lakewood, CO. Mary's office location is in 213Weber, please stop by and welcome her and her husband back to the Fort Collins area.
