This applet displays the solution to the Richards Equation
for a vertical flow of fluid into an initially dry porous
medium. The porosity of the porous medium is determined from
an arbitrary 50x50 pixel subset of the image at the left.
Using the scrollbar, you can enhance (increase) the actual
porosity by 0% to 50%. Enhancing the porosity by X% is equivalent
to randomly selecting X% of the no-flow pixels (white pixels) and
reassigning them to be dry flow pixels (black pixels). The
middle half of the top boundary is fixed to have saturation one.
Elsewhere on the boundary a no-flow boundary condition is enforced.
