The 4-th Edition of the International Summer School on

"Nonlinear Analysis and Mathematical Modelling"

15-22 July 2001, Brasov, Romania

co-organisers:

Laboratoire D'Analyse Numerique,
Universite Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France

and

Faculty of Sciences,
Transylvania  University,  Brasov,  Romania

The Summer School is intended to offer to the participants a series of lectures and round table discussions concerning the mathematical modelling and powerful tools offered by the nonlinear analysis and equations in the study of the qualitative aspects of the mathematical models arising in mechanics, physics, biology. Related numerical methods will be discussed, too.

Following the tradition of the previous editions, this Summer School puts together  graduate students from the Master Programs in Analysis, Applied Mathematics, Mechanics, Equations of the best Romanian Universities and from abroad, young researchers and assistant professors preparing their PhD Thesis.
Surrounded by the Carpatian Mountains, near Dracula's Castle, Brasov - a beautiful 13-th century old very well preserved transylvanian town - offers the ideal frame for a relaxed and fruitful week dedicated to the mathematical modelling.
Details concerning the accomodation, meal and transportation, at very low cost, can be obtained sending an email to the organizers and will be posted soon. Financial support, covering the accomodation and meal, will be offered to a part of the romanian participants. Details can be found in the announcement below or by email addressed to the organizers.

The following one week courses will be given:

                    1) Samir ADLY (University of Limoges, France) - "Non coercif variational problems"

                    2) Albert COHEN (University Paris VI, Paris, France) - "Adaptive Multiscale Methods for Image Processing and Numerical Simulation"

                    3) George Dinca (University of Bucarest) - "Fredholm Theorems for Nonlinear Operators"
