Abstract  Water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone are the primary greenhouse gases that can trap infrared radiation and contribute to global warming. In this talk, the speaker will first present a few facts about the greenhouse effects. He will then describe computational aspects of the greenhouse molecular spectroscopy by the Gaussian software. The degeneracies of the molecular spectra will be interpreted by the group representation theory and symmetries.
