The University of Texas

Health Science Center at San Antonio

Biomedical Summer Undergraduate Research Experience

The University of Texas, Department of Biochemistry, has received a 4-year training grant from NIH to run a 10-week Biomedical Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (B-Sure) at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.  This program has several unique features, the most notable of which is that it is restricted ONLY to students who are in their second or third year of Engineering (all branches), Physics, Computer Science or math majors. The intent of the program is to expose students from these fields to opportunities for application of their skills t careers in the bio-medical sciences. This is a reflection of the recognition by NIH, and indeed the entire life science research community, that the next generation of research will rely increasingly on quantitative approaches to the analysis and interpretation of the wealth of data being generated.
