Introduction

This is a course in theory of schemes. Looking back, we will forge a connection between the Grothendieck theory of schemes and the classical varieties studied in Math 672. Looking ahead, we will indicate some of the applications of schemes to classical algebraic geometry as well as to number theory.

Logistics

The course meets MWF11-11:50 in ENGRG E204

Requirements

As with last semester, homework will be posted weekly, and due the following week.
