Note
Since the instructor has changed mid-semster, there will be some
changes in the small details of the course, although the overall
plan remains the same. In the remainder of the semester, we will
cover linear transformations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, and
inner product spaces; if time allows, we will treat
diagonalization and quadratic forms.
Logistics
- Professor Jeff Achter
j.achter@colostate.edu
Weber 205B, 491-6716
- Lecture: MWF 11-11:50AM, Engrg E105
- Textbook: Elementary Linear Algebra, Howard Anton,
Wiley 2014. (11th edition)
Requirements and other expectations
We will follow the basic grading schema announced by Professor
McArthur, except that quizzes will be replaced by weekly, graded homeworks.
- Homework (30%)
Homework will be assigned weekly and collected weekly, typically
on Fridays. (Your grade for this component will be the average of your
scores on the quizzes before spring break and your homework scores
after.)
- Midterms (40%) Exam 2 is on Wednesday, March 30, in
class. (Each midterm is worth 20% of your final grade.)
- Final (30%) The final exam is on Thursday, May 12,
7:30AM-9:30AM.
You must pass the final in order to pass the course.
