Introduction

This course is to introduce you to what it's like to be a mathematics major, and maybe even a mathematician. We'll sample the ideas you'll encounter, the tools you'll need, the faculty who will be your guides and the students who will travel with you.

Logistics

We will meet on Mondays and Fridays, 3-3:50PM, in ENGRG E202.

Requirements and expectation

Expectations for what it means to take a course at Colorado State University -- including preparation of homework, comportment in class, and even how to send and email! -- are detailed as part of the University's undergraduate policies. Beyond that, your grade will be based on:

Homework, due (20% each; 9/8, 9/22, 10/6);
Guest lecture report (20%; 10/17);
Final poster (20%; 10/14 ).

These assignments will be explained in greater detail as the semester progresses.
