The undergraduate Math Club will meet this semester every other Wednesday at 4:00 pm starting September 3rd in Weber 117.

In previous years the club has organized a number of different events, such as mathematical talks and videos, career talks by math faculty, panel discussions on getting into graduate school, outreach programs at local schools, and various social activities. For the past three years the club has attended the annual joint AMS/MAA mathematical meetings (in San Diego, New Orleans, and Baltimore), and our fall programs have included a fair amount of fundraising to support these trips.

The purpose of the meeting on the 3rd will be to:

  1. Eat pizza!
  2. 2. Suggest some activities for this semester.
  3. 3. Decide whether we want to attend the joint AMS/MAA mathematical meeting in San Antonio in January 2015; if yes, we need to start fund-raising.
  4. 4. Fix a time for Math Club meetings (is Wednesday 4pm okay in general?).
  5. 5. Anything else you'd like to discuss.
  6. 6. Discuss future research projects.
  7. 7. List topics we would be interested in finding guest speakers for.
  8. 8. Eat more pizza!

Math Club is run by student for students, so please bring your suggestions for activities to the meeting. Everybody is welcome, so feel free to bring your friends even if they are not math majors.

If you are interested in being involved in Math Club but are busy at 4pm on Wednesdays, please send an email to either the faculty advisor Patrick Shipman (shipman@math.colostate.edu) or the president Gavin Stewart (gsstewar@rams.colostate.edu).
