Dr. Kenneth Klopfenstein will officially retire from the Department of Mathematics in August 2014 after 47 years of dedicated service

Professor Don EstepDr. Kenneth Klopfenstein will officially retire from the Department of Mathematics in August 2014 after 47 years of dedicated service. Dr. Klopfenstein joined the department on the September 10, 1967. On that fall day, little did he know that he was beginning a career at Colorado State which would cover a span of almost five decades. Through the years he became known to many of his students by his classroom presence, wonderful sense of humor and ingenious methods of illustrating and teaching difficult concepts, which were clear, concise, and well thought out to successfully engage his students in all levels of mathematics courses. Dr. Klopfenstein had a stature and poise that allowed him to communicated extremely well with his students and he is well known to many students as a great teacher, advisor, mentor and person.

Dr. Klopenstein received his BS from Iowa Wesleyan College (1961), followed by his MS degree from Colorado State University (1963) and his PhD from Purdue University (1967).
