Mathematics Department hosted an on-campus summer workshop for their advanced Mathematics Education majors.

Colorado State University Mathematics Department hosted an on-campus summer workshop for their advanced Mathematics Education majors currently under the advising mentorship of Professor Paul Kennedy. This 3-day workshop presentation by TI (Texas Instruments), introduced prospective mathematics teachers to their latest graphic calculator designed to give instructors a unique teaching tool to supplement the mathematics and science curriculums at the middle school and high school levels. The TI-Nspire CX Family of Color Graphing Calculators and Software, can view images and do 3D graphing. A number of additional programs, software and classroom activities are also available for classroom and laboratory use. The 5-days of instructor demonstrations and hands-on practice in group activities provided these future educators with new skills needed to successfully introduce students to the latest in graphic calculator design.

As a honors project, Professor Kenney's undergraduate students will share an overview the TI graphic calculator with instructors in Colorado, as well as a few Wyoming and Nebraska , who are participating in the Math Day competition on November 1, 2012. Annually the mathematics department hosts a one-hour presentation geared to high school instruction. Introducing the TI-Nspire CX Family of Color Graphic Calculators and Software, should be well received by our high school instructors, as these calculators were specifically designed for their level of education in the mathematics and science areas.
