Math Day 2023 will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023

Each year since 1977 the Department of Mathematics has hosted Colorado State University’s Math Day. Math Day attracts 300 to 400 of the best high school math students from Colorado and neighboring states for a day of mathematics exploration.

Exciting changes have taken place with Math Day!  After 40 years the PROBE exam was retired and replaced with the Math Day Public Lecture Series and Mathematics Fair.  These exciting new events provide the opportunity for students to experience a broader exploration and representation of what mathematics has to offer, and to showcase some of their own work. The highlight of the day is still the college-bowl-style competition which features a full, double-elimination tournament with 3-member teams from 64 schools.

This annual event has given the Department the opportunity to maintain close ties with Colorado secondary schools, and develop new associations with those schools in neighboring states.

The cost is $25.00 per student and registration is by recommendation of high school teachers.  For additional information on Math Day, or with registration questions, contact Bryan Elder at (970) 491-7925 or by email at elder@math.colostate.edu.
