The Department of Mathematics is seeking an Academic Success Coordinator who will provide exceptional and proactive academic advising to our undergraduate majors. Primary advising functions include, but are not limited to, assisting students in selecting an appropriate mathematics concentration and navigating through the course requirements, providing open communication with all majors (primarily those in the first two years), identifying and guiding students who might be struggling, and assisting faculty with advisement data as needed for their advisees.
Primary activities related to outreach and student success include, but are not limited to participation in University events pertaining to recruitment, orientation, and registration, as well as College of Natural Sciences Academic Success Coordinator meetings, and assist with career advising and some departmental outreach activities. The employee will support the campus priority for a diverse and supportive learning environment.
The Academic Success Coordinator will work in the Mathematics Advising Center, with the Undergraduate Coordinator, guided by the Undergraduate Directors, and will report directly to the Department Chair in Mathematics. The 12-month, special, full-time position will commence on February 15, 2018, with this starting date open to negotiations.
