Everybody’s Guide to
Colorado State University’s PACe Program
Grading
At the end of the semester every student registered for a minicourse is assigned a grade.
Students
enrolled in PACe minicourses who have
completed their minicourse by passing all four Unit Exams, in order, and the
comprehensive Final Exam with best scores of 80% or better, are assigned a
grade of A, B, or C determined by the sum of their best scores for each of the
four Unit Exams and the Final Exam, according to the following table:
|

* If
you (except first semester transfer or first semester readmitted
students) have earned 60 or more Colorado State and transfer credits
and have not completed the requirements of category 1B of the
All-University Core Curriculum (three credits in mathematics), you
should refer to pages 89-90 of the 2007-2008 CSU General Catalog for
grading information.
** Students who have not completed a minicourse for which they are registered are
assigned grades of I (incomplete) or U (unsatisfactory). A grade of I
(incomplete) is automatically assigned to students who have not passed the
Final Exam and have
An I (incomplete) may also be assigned when a student has worked responsibly
and consistently on a minicourse during the semester, but circumstances which
were beyond his or her control and could not reasonably have been anticipated prevented
completion of the course. Students who believe they qualify for an incomplete
on this basis should discuss their situation with a Director
in the PACe Office (Weber 137).
If a student is assigned a grade of I, his or her Unit Exam scores and registration are carried forward and the student has until a specified date (normally the end of the 5th week of the next fall or spring semester) to complete the course. This deadline date is displayed within the online course materials on as part of the student's course record. If the course is completed by this deadline, a grade of A, B, or C is determined and replaces the I. If the course is not completed by this deadline, a grade of U replaces the I. Students who are completing a minicourse in which a grade of Incomplete was assigned do not receive progress credits for any work completed for that minicourse.
A grade of U (unsatisfactory) is assigned to students who do not qualify for a grade of I in an unfinished minicourse. The U grade is a permanent transcript entry, but does not affect the CSU grade point average. However, some universities and financial aid agencies treat the U grade as an F when evaluating student records for graduate or transfer admissions or for awarding financial aid. To earn credit for a course in which a U grade was assigned, a student must register for the course again and satisfactorily complete it from the beginning
A grade of F is assigned in special circumstances involving a violation of Academic Honesty.
Students may continue to retest to improve their unit exam scores and hence their course grade until the course grade is finalized.A student's grade in a minicourse is finalized when any one of the following occurs:
