"What do students think about these classes?" "How
do I enroll in the Instructor Paced Classes?" "Can
I attend more than one Instructor Paced Class?" "What
happens if I miss a class?" "What
if the class I need is full?" "Why
do the classes meet for different amounts of times?" "What
happens if I am not finished with my minicourse when the class is
over?" "Do
I have to sign up for the Instructor Paced Classes?" "What other resources are available to help me learn the material?" “HOW MANY PACe MINICOURSES CAN I REGISTER FOR THIS SEMESTER IF I WANT TO ATTEND THE INSTRUCTOR PACED CLASSES?” You should register for as many minicourses that you intend to complete this semester. This can be anywhere from 1 to 5 minicourses (1 to 4 during the Summer Session). How many you take depends on how many you need for your degree program and how many you can fit into your schedule. (Plan on a weekly time commitment of 3 hours per week per minicourse.) Students enrolled in 1 or 2 minicourses may find that the Instructor Paced Classes are a great resource for them. Students enrolled in 4 or 5 minicourses will find that they need to move through the content of their minicourses at a quicker pace than the Instructor Paced Classes offer. There is a sequence of classes for students taking MATH 117, MATH 118, and MATH 124. Return to top of page. “HOW DO I ENROLL IN THE INSTRUCTOR PACED CLASSES?” At the start of the semester, students enrolled in the minicourses will be notified by email when the reservation system is available. Login into online.math.colostate.edu reserve a seat via the ‘Instructor Guided Classes’ link. Instructor Paced Classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Return to top of page. “CAN I ATTEND MORE THAN ONE INSTRUCTOR PACED CLASS?” Students in the minicourses can only be working on one (non-completed) minicourse at a time. That is, you need to earn a minimum passing grade in one course before you may begin another course. Therefore, you may only reserve a seat in classes that have non-overlapping meeting dates during the semester. Return to top of page. “WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A CLASS?” Seating is very limited in these Instructor Paced Classes. You will lose your reserved seat if you miss two of the Instructor Paced Classes. Attendance will be taken. You will still be registered for the minicourse unless you drop the course through RAMweb. Return to top of page. “WHAT IF THE CLASS I NEED IS FULL?” You can keep referring to the reservation schedule to see if a seat opens up. Walk-ins for each class will be accommodated if there are any available seats. Return to top of page. “WHY DO THE CLASSES MEET FOR DIFFERENT AMOUNTS OF TIMES?” A student that reserves a seat in a Monday/Wednesday class or the Monday/Wednesday/Friday class will have less in class time to work on the assignments. We high recommend that these students plan on staying in the PACe Tutoring Center after the class meets to continue working on the objectives covered in class that day. Return to top of page. “WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM NOT FINISHED WITH MY COURSE WHEN THE CLASS IS OVER?” You should continue to work on the course and try to finish it by your deadline. However, you will not be able to move on to your next course until you pass the Final Exam of the course you are currently testing in. Return to top of page. “DO I HAVE TO SIGN UP FOR THE INSTRUCTOR PACED CLASSES?” The Instructor Paced Classes are offered as an additional learning resource for students. You are not required to attend any of the Instructor Paced Classes, if you chose not to do so. Return to top of page. The content of one minicourse will be covered during the class sessions. Each class will consist of a presentation by the instructor and in-class time to work on the required assignments and review exams. The instructor and your fellow classmates will be available to help you learn the material and complete the required assignments. Return to top of page. “WHAT OTHER RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE TO HELP ME LEARN THE MATERIAL?” The PACe Program has many resources available for students. These include tutors, video clips, and supplemental textbooks. Return to top of page. "WHAT DO STUDENTS THINK ABOUT THESE CLASSES?" The following are comments from
