ALL-UNIVERSITY CORE MATHEMATICS  REQUIREMENT

The All-University Core Curriculum (AUCC) requires that students earn 3 credits in mathematics.  These credits may be earned from:

  • the Colorado State University Mathematics Challenge Exam;
  • AP, IB, or CLEP credit;
  • transferring coursework to Colorado State; or
  • satisfactorily completing classes at CSU.

    The AUCC 1B Mathematics Requirement must be completed during the first 60 credits earned toward a degree.  Transfer and readmitted students who enter with 60 or more credits must complete this requirement during their first term of enrollment.

    Most students satisfy the mathematics requirement by taking 3 credits from the following courses:

         MATH 101      Math in the Social Sciences ...........................................................................................  (3 credits)

         MATH 105      Patterns of Phenomena I.................................................................................................  (3 credits)

         MATH 117 – MATH 126   Courses in the PACe Program ....................................................................  (1 credit each)

    Any three credits in mathematics (or STAT 100) will satisfy the AUCC 1B Mathematics Requirement.  However, many majors require specific mathematics courses to satisfy degree requirements.

    Academic goals, degree requirements, personal interests, background and transfer credit should influence how a student satisfies the AUCC 1B Mathematics Requirement.
