Algebra Seminar DATE: 1/27/2005 TIME: 12:10 pm in Eng E105 SPEAKER: Alan von Hermann (CSU) TITLE: Noncommutative Grobner Bses Theory ABSTRACT: It is well known that Grobner bases have many applications in many areas of mathematics. We will briefly review commutative Grobner basis theory. We will next look at some differIences in a noncommutative setting and build the noncommutative Grobner theory from the ground up. Finally we will look at some practical uses of noncommutative Grobner bases such as in the study of quotient modules.
