DRIVING

Driving to Fort Collins from DIA involves driving west towards the mountains and then north keeping the mountains on the left. Fort Collins is located off the I25 interstate highway that runs North and South parallel to the Front Range mountains, about 70 miles north of Denver.

The following driving instructions are designed to avoid traffic problems that occur near Denver.

After leaving the airport proper, you will be on a controlled access highway called Pena Boulevard moving in a westerly direction. Shortly after leaving the airport, you will see the signs for the E470 toll road. This toll road circles around Denver. Follow the signs for Fort Collins, which is a "right" turn from Pena Boulevard. You will be heading north west with the mountains on the left side. This toll road goes directly to I25. There are two toll booths, which are operated by humans and you do not need exact change to pay the tolls of $1.75 (each). Upon reaching I25, take the exit for the north direction, which is marked as the way to Fort Collins. This is a "right" turn off the E470 and the mountains will be on your left after reaching the I25. This is a rather dangerous interchange, so please be careful entering the I25.

There are three exits for Fort Collins and you can take any of these. The most convenient exit is the Prospect Road exit, which is the second exit you encounter. (The first exit is for Harmony Road.) Taking the Prospect exit, driving west towards the mountains (which is a left turn onto Prospect). After approximately 5 miles, you will reach the intersection with College Avenue. Turn right on College Avenue and drive north. You will see the Best Western University Inn Motel on your right after a couple of blocks.
